In tonight’s second game, the Rams travel to Cincinnati for a rematch of Super Bowl LVI, but without the game’s MVP, Cooper Kupp. Still, all eyes will be on breakout youngster Puka Nacua as Matthew Stafford looks to build on the early success of his young wide outs. Meanwhile, the Bengals will attempt frantically to avoid a 0-3 start as Joe Burrow recovers from a calf injury. Despite being less than 100 percent, he will begin work on Monday.

Here are the highlights!

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Rams

Tutu Atwell moves quickly. On this end, the Rams’ second-round pick in 2021 showed off his amazing speed, but he barely missed the pylon. To gain an early advantage, L.A. opted for three on the drive.

Numeral 99

The Bengals’ offense looked unsteady early on, but that was due in part to L.A.’s defense and the big guy in the middle, Aaron Donald.

Displaying the stripes

Logan Wilson is the heart and soul of the Bengals’ defense, and he came up with a key interception late in the first half to halt L.A.’s drive.

Superstar status

Hurts started the game well, completing back-to-back double-digit passes to top receiver A.J. Brown.

Denied!

Following the Bucs’ strong defensive effort, the Eagles ended up turning the ball over on downs on their first drive.

On the go

Britain, Eagles wide receiver Covey recovered the Buccaneers’ punt 52 yards, putting Philadelphia in superb field position to begin their second drive, which culminated with a field goal, putting the visiting team up 3-0 heading into the second quarter.

No such luck!

The Buccaneers’ offense got going in the second quarter. Baker Mayfield led his team into the red zone on a 69-yard drive and almost threw his first touchdown ball of the night to Mike Evans on this floater. However, Sydney Brown rushed in for a stunning diving save to limit Tampa to three points.

Purchasing time

Few quarterbacks are as clever in the pocket as Hurts, and after detecting pressure, he gave himself some additional time to pass before uncorking a dime to Olamide Zaccheaus for his first Eagles touchdown.

Blanketed

Reed Blankenship has performed well in his 2023 debut. He tacked on an interception at the end of the second quarter, forcing Mayfield’s first turnover of the season.

Prepare to batten down the hatches.

The Buccaneers’ defense has been one of the finest in the league in recent seasons, and its anchor Devin White demonstrated why by intercepting Hurts only seconds later.

Anything you can think of…

Georgia freshman Jalen Carter has been all over the field in his first few games, and this amazing hustle effort resulted in his first career fumble. The fumble resulted in another Eagles field goal, and the Eagles led 13-3 at halftime.

Get Swiftie involved.

D’Andre Swift continued to run wild against Tampa after running for a career-high 175 yards the previous week, and even overcame a few hurdles in the process. This tremendous run set up Philly’s famed “tush push” play, which put the Eagles ahead 20-3.

Tap your toes!

Dee Delaney doesn’t get much playing time, but he filled in for an injured Jamel Dean and came up with a gutsy interception in the end zone on a long ball.

Two hands for security

The Buccaneers’ joy was short-lived, as Nicholas Morrow drove into the backfield and forced a safety. The Eagles added another field goal to their score, increasing their advantage to 25-3 early in the fourth quarter.

Mike’s flying style

Mike Evans has been receiving rare air for a long time, and he demonstrated that he still has it with a couple of stunning receptions to get Tampa within 14 points.
