2023 MLB Playoff Bracket Update: Phillies, D-Backs, Twins, Rangers Take 1-0 Leads – Scores, Results, Postseason Schedule

The 2023 Major League Baseball playoffs began Tuesday with victories by the Phillies, Diamondbacks, Twins, and Rangers in their respective series. In the National League, the Phillies defeated the Marlins at home, while the D-backs rallied back on the road against the fancied Brewers. In the AL, the Rangers defeated the Rays thanks to a great outing from southpaw Jordan Montgomery, while the Twins won a historic game against the Blue Jays.
With the victory in Game 1, the Twins ended an 18-game playoff losing run. Minnesota won its first postseason game at Target Field thanks to two home runs from Royce Lewis.
As the top two teams in each league get byes to the League Division Series, the Braves, Dodgers, Orioles, and Astros will be relaxing at home this week. Starting Saturday, these four clubs will host Game 1s of the NLDS and ALDS. The game timings for that round are yet to be determined.
The last weekend of the regular season brought playoff-clinching drama. Saturday night, the 12-team field was established as five teams earned playoff places in a 75-minute stretch. The Astros then defeated the Rangers on Sunday to capture the AL West for the third year in a row.
